Here's how to create a new password for an email program to log in to your Outlook.com account even when you have two-step verification enabled.

Select your name or avatar in Outlook.com's top navigation bar. Click My Account or View Account.

Scroll down and click Update under the Security section.

On the Security basics screen, click more security options at the bottom.

Scroll down and click Set up two-step verification.

Launch the Set up two-step verification wizard by clicking Next. Follow the instructions to enable two-step verification.

On the third step of the wizard, you'll see an option to get app passwords for your mobile email apps, for Android, iPhone, or BlackBerry. Click the relevant link to get the password for your email app.

Follow the on-screen instructions to finish setup on your smartphone or tablet. Once you have an app password set up, you can use it in your app, or change it whenever you want.

Use Your Outlook.com App Password
Now you're ready to use your app password. To access Outlook.com emails in another email program, you first need to enable POP access.


Then you'll have to add your Outlook account to an email program such as Gmail and login with your regular password.


If you use the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can authorize the sign-in from there.

In Outlook.com, go to My Account > Security > more security options to get to the Additional security options page.

Under App passwords, click Remove existing app passwords.

All passwords you have set up for your Outlook.com account will be disabled. You cannot delete specific passwords and will have to change the Outlook.com POP passwords in all your email programs.

Select Remove.

Now you've disabled all of the previous account access authorizations.
